Autumn 2 2019
Congratulations to the children on a fantastic Nativity. We hope you enjoyed it.
We relaxed afterwards and made our own rockets to power up.
In science we had to make a den to protect our super hero from the storm. We commented on each others work and wrote about our den and any ways that we could make it even better another time.
We have been making our own Christmas cakes and icing them.
I am working hard to create an environment where the children will be able to lead their own learning at various points of the day. Some are already recording learning at home linked to the topic and bringing it into school to share. WOW! Thank you to all the adults at home who are supporting this.
We now have our outside area set up and in use and every child is eager to take a turn working independently outside (they have even suggested how we can create more opportunities for this). Inside we have a writing area for creating books linked to our topic and I hope to develop a workshop area with simple tools where the children can create items to support our topic learning, following their own ideas.
Take a look above to see some initial reactions to the topic ranging from partner work to create rockets to investigations into the best material to cover a 'rocket capsule'.
