World Book Day 2018

1st March 2018
World Book Day 2018 - Thursday 1st March 2018
Well, today was a very exciting day; not only because of the snow but also because it was World Book Day.
This morning, despite the cold temperatures, the children and teachers came dressed in costumes of some of their favourite book characters.
Beginning the day, the school heard some stories from the brilliant story teller, David Heathfield. Following on from this, as we were all together, we had a parade allowing us to share our costumes. It was great to see all of the amazing costumes and the effort gone into recreating well-loved book characters.
After a play in the snow, key stages one and two went back into the hall and had another story told to them by David. The children also had the opportunity to create their own ending to the story, sharing it on the story telling chair, before finally hearing the end of the story.
Although it was cold and snowy and our day was cut short due to this, we had an exciting morning for World Book Day. We were also kindly donated some books from Nepal; David brought them for us after he had spent some time travelling there and reading to children like us - so thank you to David and to the school in Nepal!
Thank you to the children, parents and carers for all the effort but into creating the costumes and coming to school to share the day morning with each other.
