Year 1 Teacher / RE Lead
Year 1 Teacher / SENCo
Welcome to Year One's class page. In Year One, the teachers are Mrs Clarke (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) and Mrs Felton (Thursday, Friday). The teaching assistant that helps with our learning is Mrs Tuohy.
Our PE days are Wednesday and Thursday, but please ensure your child has the correct PE kit in school every day.
The children are expected to read every day for at least five minutes. We occasionally set tasks linked to the children's learning that week.
15th May 2017
In our History topic we are learning about toys from the past. Today we had a special visit from Audrey's mum. She brought in her collection of wind-up toys. We all had a chance to play with these very special items and find out about how they work.
Exeter City Reward Day - Tuesday 25th April
We have been playing dodgeball and football today with some of the Exeter City Football Club school coaches. They helped us to improve our ball skills and made sure that we had lots of fun. At the end of this very active session we got to meet Grecian the Lion and some of the first team players!
Science Day - Tuesday 25th April 2017
Today we found out all about the science of bubbles! Josh showed us how to touch a bubble without popping it, create a bubble filled with cloud and how to create bubbles that were both heavy and light. We had a fun morning!
Lewis - I liked the explosion because it was so loud.
Cayden - I enjoyed it when he made the cloud bubbles. When they popped there was white cloud everywhere!
Amelia - I liked it when he put the cloud bubbles on their heads. It was funny!
Bobby - I liked the explosion.
Fergus - The explosion was good because it was like lava in the air.
Spelling Bee - Monday 24th April.
Here are the Year 1 spellings to learn for the whole school Spelling Bee.
Terrific Tour Guides Presentation
On Wednesday 29th March we had our Terrific Tour Guides Afternoon where children presented their projects about countries of the UK which they had worked on at home.
It was wonderful that so many parents were able to attend the event. We were so proud of the children who showed such confident speaking skills when presenting their project to so many different adults.
In science we planted some beans. We looked after the beans and were very surprised when they grew very quickly! We wrote a bean diary. We are going to plant them in the keyhole garden.
Paddleboat Theatre Day - Tuesday 31st January 2017
The children enjoyed a whole day visit from the Paddleboat theatre company. They took part in a workshop session based around the story 'According To Arthur' and then in the afternoon watched a performance of the story.
