Home Learning
Home learning is set on a Wednesday and handed in on a Monday.  We ask parents to read with their child for 10 to 20 minutes each evening, to help children with spellings, tables and number bonds and to complete relevant tasks to support classroom learning.
Warburtons Break Making Workshop - Wednesday 5th July
What a treat Year 3 had today! Lee and Nicky from Warburtons came to do a bread making and food preparation/hygiene workshop today. We found out that Warburtons are a family run business and have been running now for 141 years. We watched a film all about how bread products are made and then discussed the importance of being clean when preparing food. Have a look at the photographs to see us working together to make the dough. We then had fun making our very own bread shapes:)
Ocarina Lessons for the Summer Term - updated music below...
We are so excited that this term the children are learning to play the Ocarina.  So far we have learnt Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, London's Burning, the theme tune of Scooby Doo, Au Clair De La Lune and Old MacDonald's Farm. Some of this music is now included below so that the children can practise at home.
Stone Age to Iron Age Workshop
Well done Year 3 - what amazing history experts! Have a look at the photos to see all the great learning we did today.

Stone Age to Iron Age Workshop - Wednesday 17th May 2017

We are very much looking forward to our 'Time Traveller' visiting tomorrow and taking us back to British life before written history. If your child would like to dress up as a prehistoric boy or girl, we have included a website link for inspiration!

Double Elephant Workshop - Friday 12th May
What an amazing day! Thank you to FOSSS we were able to invite a local printer to school to work with the children for the morning. As part of our RE, we have been working with St Matthew's Church to explore the story of Pentecost. The children have been learning about the 'Fruits of Spirit' through role play and artwork. During the morning, each child created a fabric print that depicted a 'fruit' of their choice e.g. joy, love, peace, faithfulness, self control, kindness, gentleness, patience and goodness. All thirty pieces will be sewn together to create a banner and on show at the Respect Festival (Belmont Park - 3rd and 4th June) on St Matthew's stall. Well done Year 3!
Exeter City Reward Day - Tuesday 25th April
Today the children have enjoyed playing Street Football, Dodgeball and Target Practise using the inflatable goals bought along by the Exeter City coaches.  They were also lucky enough to meet 6 first team players and to get their autographs!
Science Show - Tuesday 25th April
This week we have really enjoyed the Science Show - learning about chemical reactions and how to apply Science to make the impossible seem possible!  Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this event, and to FOSSS for their generous donation to make it possible - the children were really inspired! Please look at the pictures below.
Spelling Bee - Monday 24th April 2017
On Monday 24th April, we will be having our school Spelling Bee. Please support and encourage your child to do their best at learning these spellings. A list of the spellings as well as a range of strategies that we use in school are added below. The children particularly enjoy 'Rainbow Write' and 'Silly Sentences'.
Thank you for your support with this - have fun!
Easter Service - Friday 31st March
Well done to all of you who took part in the Year 3 and 4 Easter Service. You worked very hard to learn all of the songs (some were very tricky) as well as your lines. Your 'Rise Up' dance as a finale was performed with such energy and commitment - those collaboration skills really came together! We are all very proud of you:) Apologies for some of the photos being on the side - technical hitch!
English this week...
We have been learning about the rain forest in our topic work and have linked this with a picture book called 'The Great Kapok Tree' by Lynne Cherry. Watch and listen to the class story mapping with actions the start of the original story. We have then used the language patterning to adapt this to story map the start of our own stories.
World Book Day - Thursday 2nd March 2017
What a great day! Year 3 made such a wonderful effort coming to school dresses as their favourite book characters. We started the day with a whole school assembly from storyteller, David Heath. The children heard stories from all across the globe. We also listened to some children perform poetry they had chosen and learnt over the half term. In the afternoon, we were lucky enough to take part in a workshop led by David. The children took part in acting as well as being storytellers themselves!
Thank you for all the book reviews that were completed for homework. We will add these to our book corner in the classroom to help inspire others!
Visit to the Eden Project - Friday 13th January 2017
