Please continue to work on your spelling zappers and times tables and remember to read every day for 10-15 minutes. Don't forget to write in your reading diaries as well, I will be looking for the best ones when I come back!
Volcanoes!! - Friday 5th May
Last week, the children made some magnificent volcanoes as part of their homework and to link in with our Geography unit 'Extreme Earth'. The volcanoes looked amazing, and with a little help from Mrs Souyad and myself, most of the volcanoes erupted successfully!
Exeter City Reward Day - Tuesday 25th April
This afternoon, players and coaches from Exeter City Football Club came to give the children an opportunity to play street soccer, dodgeball and target practice using an inflatable goal. The children were lucky enough to meet 6 players from the first team and they got their autographs!
Science Tricks - Tuesday 25th April
Today we have enjoyed watching a Science show about chemical reactions and proving that something we think is impossible can be made possible! The children loved watching the experiments and are keen to try out more!
Spelling Bee - Monday 24th April
Well done to John and Victoria for getting through to the final of the spelling bee on Monday. You both did really well!
Ibounce - Wednesday 19th April
Last Wednesday Years 4 and 6 visited the new trampoline park in Marsh Barton. The children thoroughly enjoyed all the activities that were available and even Mr McLeod and Mrs Souyad joined in!
Viking Shields!
For the last couple of weeks the children have been designing and making their own Viking shields linked to our History topic. Below are some pictures of the finished designs
Monday 6th March - Viking Poems
Today the children read and acted out a Viking Poem (see pictures below). They then produced some of their own poems about Danegeld. Here is one written and read by John ~
'Come, come has the time to flee,
When I paid it, it never came to me,
That they would come back,
'cos I don't have a stack,
Of money surrounding me.
I have to go into hiding,
Fore come has the time to flee,
I didn't think I'd be on the brink,
Of death in a blood red sea.
Death is all around me,
Noble warriors on the ground,
I can't do anything to stop it,
But death is surely around.'
Visit to Escot Park - Thursday 2nd February 2017
Last Thursday, the class went to Escot Park to visit the Anglo-Saxon village. This linked in with our Anglo-Saxon and the Scots history unit they have studied this half term. The children got to explore the village and surrounding area and learnt traditional Anglo-Saxon trades, such as whittling and carving, chopping logs for the fires, making bread and corn grinding.
All children and staff thoroughly enjoyed this day. Take a look at our pictures below.
