World Book Day 2023

At St Sidwell's, we celebrated World Book day on Friday 3rd March 2023. Children, and staff, were invited to dress up as a book character or word; there was a variety of costumes and a great effort from everyone. 

During the day, the children had lots of opportunities to explore, develop and share their love of reading and books. Each class was joined by Jade from Devon Library Services, who shared lots of books with different genres. The children were encouraged to look at the books and make note of those which they would like to read in the future. It was great to see the children so excited about the possibility of reading new books. 

Across the school, books were shared and read and children from across key stages went to each other's classes to read. Year 6 read with Nursery and Reception; Year 5 read with Year 2 and Year 4 read with Year 1. Reception and Nursery also had parents in to share their books which is now going to become a regular occurrence.
