Physical Education
Why?
We want our pupils at St Sidwell's to learn Physical Education, so that:
- They can develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
- They are physically active for sustained periods of time
- They engage in competitive sports and activities to build character and embed values of fairness and respect
- They become physically confident to lead healthy, active lives.
What?
We have designed a progression document for Physical Education to map out our pupils' development from Nursery to Year 6.
How?
- Our Early Years learning environment is set up up to support pupils' physical development
- We teach a class PE lesson once a week
- We provide carefully chosen equipment at breaktimes and lunchtimes
- We train playleaders to lead activities with pupils
- Our before and after school provision has a focus on pupils' physical development
Who?
Miss Wilson leads Physical Education in our school, from Nursery to Year 6.
