Physical Education

Why?

We want our pupils at St Sidwell's to learn Physical Education, so that:

  • They can develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
  • They are physically active for sustained periods of time
  • They engage in competitive sports and activities to build character and embed values of fairness and respect
  • They become physically confident to lead healthy, active lives.

What?

We have designed a progression document for Physical Education to map out our pupils' development from Nursery to Year 6.

How?

  • Our Early Years learning environment is set up up to support pupils' physical development
  • We teach a class PE lesson once a week
  • We provide carefully chosen equipment at breaktimes and lunchtimes
  • We train playleaders to lead activities with pupils
  • Our before and after school provision has a focus on pupils' physical development

Who?

Miss Wilson leads Physical Education in our school, from Nursery to Year 6.
