Year 1 have been very busy this week: in Science, they labelled body parts; in Art, they explored tints and shades and in History, they created timelines of events from their own lives! 😊 #findingthelight @stchris_trust— St. Sidwell's C of E (@stsidwellsce) Jan 17, 2026

Reception have been making staircase patterns & recognising that each step is 1 more than the last. Today, they played a game where they took it in turns to hide a step from their staircase, with their partner having to guess which step was missing. @stchris_trust pic.twitter.com/xTHV6Fywal— St. Sidwell's C of E (@stsidwellsce) January 15, 2026

Yesterday, Year 5 had a wonderful time in Science learning all about water resistance, buoyancy & water displacement. Each pair had a 10cm by 15cm rectangle of foil and were tasked to create a boat that could hold as many marbles as possible. 🛶💭#findingthelight @stchris_trust pic.twitter.com/UjvlACv0ic— St. Sidwell's C of E (@stsidwellsce) January 15, 2026

Year 3 have been exploring different brush strokes in art this week. They identified different types of brush strokes in their artist, Trish Jones’s work & then identified the colours used in that piece of art work & then practised with that brush type. 🎨🖌️ @stchris_trust pic.twitter.com/DZXfOkaxnG— St. Sidwell's C of E (@stsidwellsce) January 14, 2026

In science, Year 2 worked in teams to test how reflective different materials are. With their results, they were able to find the most suitable material for a cyclist’s reflective jacket. They thought carefully about how to ensure a fair test & recorded their results together!— St. Sidwell's C of E (@stsidwellsce) Jan 13, 2026
