Teaching and Learning

The Teaching and Learning  strategies that we employ at St Sidwell's are underpinned by Rosenshine's Principles that support our children to learn more and remember more so that they develop a love of life-long learning.

Teaching Walkthrus by Tom Sherrington and Oliver Caviglioni provides us with a toolkit of effective teaching and learning strategies. It is a coaching guide which offers a range of strategies for developing pedagogical practice, and all of the strategies are rooted in proven practice and research.

Ongoing staff CPD is carefully planned to support the development of these strategies across the school to ensure that they are positively embedding and impacting on children's  learning.

Interventions

At Sidwell’s, we understand that some children may need extra support with their learning due to a range of reasons. Whatever those reasons, we pride ourselves on our targeted intervention offer which supports children with their reading, writing, mathematics and SEMH needs.
